Do different rangers have different amounts of ground clearance as far as putting bigger tires on? I realize 2wd and 4wd drives are different. But what about an XLT and an FX4 Level II both the same year.
The reason i'm asking this is that i'm looking at lifting my truck about 2-2.5 inches and putting 33x10.50's on it over the stock 31x10.50's. It seems that some people are putting 4 inches of lift and putting 33's on it too. I've set a 33" tire next to it, and it would fit in the wheel well fine with out any lift, i know it can't turn, but with 2" of lift it should be fine.
I haven't seen any clearence charts on the newer (i.e. FX4) Rangers, but remember that you have to figure in suspension travel as well as clearance. It would be a waste to barely fit 33s, only to have them tear open the fenders when you hit a bump while turning.
