First off, truck is 1991 4x4 f150 automatic tranny 302 v8 very well kept.
Ok Ive had the strangest things happening in the truck lately.
First, I bought this truck knowing the transmission shifted hard. The kid said they had put a shift kit in the tranny and it does shift like there is one in it. Ive rode in many vehicles with kits and it imitates it well.
But heres the problem....The other day I got in the truck, and it just so happened to be the first time it had been pretty cold out here in florida. I put the truck in drive and proceeded to drive off. First gear shifted, but for some strange reason, shifted clean and fine like a brand new car. Next gear came, same thing. I was amazed. Im used to this overbearing jerk into second, but the truck was driving perfect with no hard shifts at all.

Well, after driving the truck around for 15-20 minutes the truck finally started to shift a little rougher into 2nd. My question is....did he lie to me about a shift kit being in the truck and its really just a problem with the tranny??? And if so, what would make it do this. Every now and again it will really clean up and shift perfect. BTW, the motor and trans were both serviced and rebuilt right before I bought the truck, so both the filter and fluid in the tranny are new.

Any answers why???
