I recently purchased an F150 with a 460 and cruise control. The Cruise did not work so i removed it. I removed the vacuum hose that runs into the wheelwell but was unable to locate a return line so i assumed that it has only one line. I had someone today tell me that they can hear a vacuum leak. am i going to have to tear into the wheel well to see if there is another line?
There is no second hose where you are talking about it. The vacuum circuit should be from the manifold to a short cylindrical one way valve. The valve has 2 vacuum hoses out of it. One goes to a reservoir under the drivers fender apron. The other goes to the throttle servo for the cruise control.
Normal cruise the manifold vacuum operates the servo. Vacuum drops (acceleration) the valve closes and the servo runs off the reservoir.
