steel for flatbed
hey guys, got another question for ya's. the bed on my 79 f150 is shot so i want to build myself a flatbed . Im planning on runnin three 2" square tube crossmembers from frame rail to frame rail as the "base". then on the ends of the 2", ill run a piece of 2" square tube on top then fill in between with 2x12x8' lumber. hopefully you can make sense of my gibberish. my main questions were is 2" a decent size for what i want to do and if so what size wall of tube should i use.
usually there wont be anything in the bed but i'll occasionally have my old john deere ride on mower in there or a load of gravel or sand so it needs to be at least as capable as the old bed.
