alternator prob.
Vehicle died - no charge. Boosted it and it ran for a minute or two and died. Alternator was VERY hot and smelled like brakes. Unplugged the connections to it and it ran fine for the 10 mile drive home after another boost. What's wrong? How do I test it without an AVR? I'd like to fix it and not just replace it if possible. Thanks for any help you can offer.
