I posted this on the audio board but never got an answer. Thought maybe someone over here has some advise.
I have a 94 F-150 I bought new when I retired. It has about 35000 miles on it. Just noticed the other day static on AM stations of the radio and it goes away when the motor is not running. I remember back in the old days of regular points and standard distributors when you had static and the ant. was OK normally it was the condenser was going bad. Anyone know if there is anything on the later distributers or electrical that causes static????
Thanks

It could be your spark plug wires,a bad ground,or a bad connection. They make a resistor for that but I forgot what it was called or how you installed it,But I know they make one! Lol.
Side note:
I had old plug wires and a PA speaker on my truck, with the speaker on,it sounded like I had a diesel because of the sparking off the wires. It sounded great until I replaced the wires....then I lost the sound.....
Same problem here. Similar truck - 1994 F-250 with the 460. Does the electronic ignition eliminate the condenser, because I can't find mine? AM radio works fine with the engine off. Did you ever get a fix? New spark plug wires, cap, and rotor has no effect.
