Read the other thread but my problem is slightly different. Being a former Electricians Mate this is kind of embarrasing to admit that I can't figure it out. So here goes. I have running lights in the left rear, also the back up light. The left turn signal in front works, however I do not have left turn signal or brake light in the left rear. The bulb is good, replaced it for good measure. The flashers work, I have brake lights on the right side. There is power going to the socket when the left blinker is turned on and when the brakes are depressed. I've isolated the problem to somewhere in the socket but I can't figure out where. Any ideas?
those sockets go bad. both of my back-up light sockets have gone bad and i fixed them by pulling all the guts out of the plastic harness and slippng a new metal socket into it by whatever means nessesary, ie heat gun to get it nice and soft then some muscle.
What you are describing has me thinking dirty contact, maybe a broken wire in the switch. When you look at the switch, the contact surfaces are rounded brass rivets. Wires are termed with eye connecters that are secured by the contacts.

You've already troubleshot the problem correctly, so dont feel bad. Those plastic harnesses can't be cleaned up, they're sealed and molded. you should do as i did with mine, it'll work.
