My 96 Bronco has a a slight " bump " each time I take off from a stop. I have driven approximately 10k with it like that but I am wondering what it might be. [u-joints, transfer case , tranny???
Any thoughts,
It's probably the slip joint in the drive shaft. Dissassemble the joint clean and regrease and you should be good to go. I had the same bump when I bought my 94. If the bump doesn't go away, also check u-joints for slop and the rearend yoke for play, the pinion nut has been known to back off.
Thank you for the reply, I am new to the mechanical stuff so I'm not sure I could effectively correct it but at least I have some credible insight to work with. If you ever have a question on your home, feel free to ask me, I am a general contractor and home inspector in the dallas area, maybe I can return the favor. Thanks again
Thank you for your help with the " bump ", I believe that you are correct, I would like to ask you if you have any suggestions on a fluid and filter change. At my last oil change they suggested that I change the fluid and filter, I have heard that a change at 153k could be fatal to a good running tranny. Any suggestions there?

I had the same thing. Turned out to be loose U-bolts on the springs/axle. Went away after installing lift kit. Came back a year later and they were loose again.
I had a similar bump.Mine dissapeaared after I replaced my ball joints.I thought I had numerous things it could be,Incl. tranny u-bolts, motor mount etc.
a tranny service shouldnt hurt it. I have mine done once a year for my AOD. Your tranny is the E4OD which if it does go out figure about 1800-2500 for replacement
