Hey guys.
My infamous 89 150 is getting a make over soon. I'm going to start the body tear down as soon as I have my torch bottles filled. But as for the motor. . . Its a stock 302 EFI. . . and I'm going to do some work to it. Its a totally cast rotating assembly as far as know. I just need to make sure it will handle what I'm doing to it. I'm sure it will. . . but I don't want any surprises. I'm going to thow the high compression GT40P heads on it, with eitther 1.6 or 1.7 rockers. I'm going to put a reletively rough cam in it. I have a stick so it will work out. Then I'm going to get a mass air conversion kit, and the eddlebrach victor EFI intake for it. A lightning throttle body, and some big injectors. Thinking I'll match my Mass air meter to at least 42 pounders. She'll have headers and very open exhaust. so what do you all think about it? What kind of power should I expect. . . and any suggestions and ideas always rock. Thanks guy.
Timmy
I'm not sure what power numbers will be, but your gas mileage numbers will be definately low!
What rear gears do you have? How tall are your tires? Your engine numbers will not matter that much if you kill it with tall tires and bad gearing.
Do you plan on having your flywheel resurfaced/new clutch, since your upping the horses? Seen a lot of old clutches go south after new motors were put in.
howdy, forget the drivetrain, i'll take care of that when I need to. I'm getting new axles and tranny anyway. 42 # injectors may be overkill, I don't know. What do you guys think? Whats the best performing truck EFI intake manifold out there? I don't want to have to seriously modify my wiring harness to accomodate a mustang intake. I'm debating a stroker to go along with it. How will all these things work together? I'm looking for the most power possible with a 302 block, mass air. . . gt40p heads, so what I need is. . . stroker? yes no? cam? what cam do I want? Intake? will my truck intake be sufficiant? or should I find another intake? Thanks
Timmy
