Nice one alright. I would shoot the one I see in the back of my property, if it weren't for the fact that I now have neighbors...hehehe

I am from Utah and when I lived in Texas, I always thought it was funny how they counted every single "point" on the antlers...like you say it's a 10 point, well here in the west that would be a 4 point, because we only count one side, and we never count the "tongs"(sp?) in the middle because those are just a given, they are always there! Weird how there are differences from one part of the country to the next. Congrats.

I did a European mount last year. First thing is to skin the skull of all hair and hide. I then wrapped the horns in tin foil to keep them from changing color when boiling. I boiled mine in a large turkery frier pot. I added some dishsoap to the water to help with the degreasing process. I had to boil it for about 6 hours. Take it out every once in a while and clean any loose meat off. After 6 hours almost all the loose flesh was gone. I sprayed some compressed air into the nasel cavity to get the loose stuff out. I then soaked the skull in hydrogen peroxide for a couple days to get it a little whiter. Turned out pretty nice.

sorry...a sweep mount is where its shoulder mounted and "comes out" in a turn- you choose the direction to show of its best side; depending where it'll be hung on the wall. They are more expensive than a shoulder mount (which is great too) and show off more of the actual size of the animal...again its about patience 'cause around here thats about an 18 month wait, but pick a GOOD taxidermist, make sure you see some of their work first, you dont want to mess it up.
