Cruise Control Kit 2001

I recently purchased a 2001 F-250 SD XL diesel - 2WD;Automatic, crewcab; and took it to the dealer to add a crusie control. I was informed that Ford cancelled the kit. I have checked everywhere I can think of - no more Ford cruise control kits. I have been advised by a couple of private shops that after-market kits do not work. Is there any hope of finding a Ford kit or an after-market kit that will work? Thank you. PS I am new to diesels - this site is a wealth of information and I appreciate all of the intelligent posts; I am learning a great deal here.

I'm not really familiar with the design of the cruise on our trucks, but I would guess that it's simply a different steering wheel and/or column, and enabling the cruise control in the ECU via software.
If Ford doesn't offer it new anymore, I'm sure theres one to be found in a wrecking yard. Your truck is not that old.

If you find one in the bone yard, you will also need the master cylinder from the doner truck. The master cylinder body has a switch location to deactivate the cruise. If you look at Powerstrokeshop.com and use key word Cruise control you will see what you may need to adapt it yourself. Good Luck
