brake lights inoperative.
I have a '97 f-150, and all exerior lights work, except the 3 brake lights. The fuses all seem to be good. We did a quick check on the brake pedal position switch, and that seems to be ok, too. The chime sounds when you open the door, even with the key out. (The same chime that would sound if you had the key in, or left the lights on.) turn signals, and running lights work fine. any help ? its driving me nuts, and im leaving for hunting in 2 days.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! !!!!!!!!!

hmm not sure if this is it....but check under the hood for the other fuse box, you might have a fuse blown there, they are located on the driverside, one of them will have several relays and large fuses , and there should be a smaller one about the size of a pack of cigs, it will have several small fuses, be sure to check them all.
Some times they will have black tape on the boxes. just look closely.

Double check the fuses under the dash. "Seem to be" and "no blown" fuses are 2 entireley different beasts.
BTW, I went through the same problem several months ago and it turned out to be some addition wiring I had spliced into the brake light wires.

Thanks for the help...
I apperciate the help... we re-checked the fuses.... all of them, pulled each one out and checked it... no problems there... Went back to the brake position switch... I had a wire in there from the remote starter i installed 4 years ago. Didnt get a reading with the ohm meter today... we had the switch out yeaterday, and it worked outside the vehicle... long story short, we cut the wires back, spliced in new ones, and ran terminals right into a new brake light switch, and wallah.... They work ! SOOOO it was either the brake light switch, or a broken wire on the connector... either yay, they are fine now... Thanks...
