floor shifter hell

Figure out which automatic tranny you have, then buy the appropriate shifter.
You should go to the manufacturers website and look for installation instructions, hurst offers this, maybe the others do as well. Then you know exactly what your getting into. If the info is not available, try contacting the company direct.
If you can drill a couple holes and tighten a bolt or two, your in good shape.

How about this, b&m has a "truck" shifter, keep in mind, if you do have an AOD tranny, you have to buy additional pieces to make the shifter work, it mentions this in the description of the shifter. At the bottom of the page is a PDF file that includes how to install information, check that out.

They also have a "unimatic" shifter, this one resembles a manual shifter and is a little taller. Not sure this one has the ratcheting action as the one above, you'll need to call and find out if this interests you. PDF file is at the bottom, again read it and be sure you feel comfortable with the process. Additional parts are required to use an AOD tranny, part numbers are listed in the description.
