I need help identifying what this is, it is located by the solenoid and i have no clue what it is for. some body please help. The photo is located in my gallery, hopefully someone knows what it is, i know you guys are full of tons of useful info so thanx in advance.
That is a dual battery isolator keeps one battery from draining the other. Note, if two batteries are not of simmilar amp rating or one is in poor shape that will draw the other down trying to charge it, key off engine off. Same job can be done with a constant duty solenoid wired to key on power.
Make it go away if you arent going to use it, whether its either one. Just more wires to deal with, and congestion. Its got some cooling fins, so it generates some heat whatever it is. I would have to vote for the battery isolater. I have done the same thing with a ford solenoid, when I use to run two batteries. One for truck and the other for camper.
thank you guys much, yeah its not connectected to anything except the battery and alternator, it had a pair of wires running to nothing that cam out by the trailer light adapter, but were just capped off. I will remove it now that i know its nothing important, or at least that i don't need it anymore. Thanx again.
