Any reputable shop will replace the fender, not try to mud that one up. price wise depends on area and any unseen damages. but everything should be replaced new
Depending on what state you live in, and how much of a deductible your dad has on the insurance, it could go either way. I know here in Colorado, if you want a full replacement, you get it. Insurance is there to return the vehicle back to the way it was BEFORE the damage occured. I don't think bondo was included with your dad's truck when he bought it. It is left up to the policy holder which way to go.
Sure about that BillyBob69, I live in Peyton next to Colorado Springs, my neigbor works in a body shop and ran one before, he was the one who told me about the insurance, he told me that the insurance company sometimes dictate how they fix the car and when the part is replaced or not. guess he could be wrong.
Lance...One of the guys I work for just got his Dodge clobbered by someone in a parking lot. Bent the lower front end of the bed fender up and under. The insurance company said they wanted the shop to straigten and bondo the dimples. He refused and said he wanted a replacement, so he got it. Besides, to pull, bolt on and paint a replacement fender is cheaper in labor then trying to straighten and bondo. Takes less time. He said that the insurance companies don't always think a replacement will be cheaper. Guess maybe it depends on the part. Would be kind of hard to replace something like say.......A roof panel;?
Fenders are a easy swap out for a body shop.
i'm suprised it did what it did to the truck. he was mabey doin 30, i mean didn't do any damage to anything other then put a good dent in the front fender and crack the grill.
But my 85 took a deer on the way to school at 40 and all it did was make me buff out my bumper and clean the blood and hair off the front axle
guess differant trucks durring differant situations. It's still a good truck.
yea, I agree the older trucks were stronger. I had a 1992 F150 and I hit a chevy van going about 20mph, all it did was dent the stone guard(area under the headlights) the van on the other hand was totaled.
