95 Explorer Dash noise

95 Explorer Dash noise
Not sure if this has anything to do with the blend door, have not had time to check yet. On my daughters 95 EB explorer there is a noise coming around the passenger side almost like something opening and closeing. It gets worse when the heat or air is turned on. The first time I heard it I thought a cd was constantly changing in the cd changer but its coming from the dash. Anyone else have a similer problem or an idea what may be wrong. Thanks in advance for any help.

Does it make the noise after you raise the temp or lower the temp? Is this on Automatic Climate Control? If yes that's how it usually starts with the blend door. Then one day the noise will stop but you'll either have hot or cold. Just put the fan in low mode and try lowering the temp all the way down and listen. Then all the way up. You'll hear the electric motor moving the blend door (directly behind the glove box). If that's when you hear the other noise it's the blend door shaft probably starting to crack.

It is an automatic climate control. It seems worse when you adjust the temp up or down. I turned the fan speed all the way down and put the temp as close to actual temp and then it was just a steady switching noise. Having shoulder surgery friday so I guess it will be awhile before I can get into it to try and fix it. Thanks Gene
