driver's only unlock?

Folks,

I've searched the archives,a nd couldn't track down an answer to this question.

I have a 2005 Escape, and the key fob unlocks all four doors in response to a single press.

Is there a way to reprogram that behavior so that it only opens the driver's door on a single press, and then all doors on the second press?

There's got to be, since my key fob unlocks only the driver door on my '05 on the first press, then all doors on the second. Stick around, Wolfgang; someone'll have an answer soon enough.

Thanks for the help. My job takes me to some relatively shady neighborhoods, and I thought that it would be nicer for security reasons. I have taken to opening the door with the key recently.

Which model do you have, Wolfgang? XLS? XLT? There may be a difference. Our '05 XLT works like D2EBMA described.

Yes it can be done, I changed mine from the 1 door to all doors. Don't rember the steps but it is in the owners man. If you dod not have a manual you can view a pdf copy by registering at ford vehicles under the owners section. Lots of good stuff there.

By the way if yours is set to open all doors with One press. Using the key will unlock all doors with one turn.
