I filled up this morning with the standard 87 octane and have driven 52 miles. I have used over a 1/4 of a tank of gas!!! I know that the tank was full when I started (Over $85.00 @ $2.29) I was going to change the fuel filter tomorrow and I hope that helps. I have 110,000 miles and had the plugs, wires, injectors cleaned, tranny flushed, and coolent flushed all at 98,000 miles. The last time I changed the fuel filter was 65,000 miles. We drive about 75,000 miles a year.
If You Have A 26 Gal Tank, Fugure It Out To About 7.6 Mpg..if You Are Hard On The Truck, Thats What You Can Expect. Your Truck Is A Super Duty???if Its An Excursion, 44 Gal Tank. Mileage Is About 4.72 Mpg. Ouch......what Engine...v8 Or V10.
i get those #'s approx. in an 02 v10. and i dont drive like an old woman.dont drive it like i stole either. the first 1/4 tank does drain quickly i admit.
When my fuel pressure regulator went out on my Explorer, my gas consumption went through the roof. After having it repaired and talking with my mechanic, he told me to check the inside of the tailpipe-it was lined with combustion products.
Thanks to all. I checked the system with my snap on computer and found nothing to be wrong. I then remembered that I filled up that morning and the fueling truck was filling the tanks too. I guess this caused the the tanks to stir up dirt that then got caught in my fuel filter. I replaced the fuel filter this morning and found the old one to be 80% clogged. I filled up after replacing the filter and pumped 21.87 gallons and drove 97 miles. Now I have driven 105 miles since I filled up and have only used just over an 1/8th of a tank.
