y block dipsticks

y block dipsticks

can anyone explain this one?i bought a yblock believe a 292 while back and it has 2 dipsticks both going into the block,one right behind the generator and one underneath the pass side exhaust manifold.i cant figure out why it has 2?

The one in the front is for the front sump oil pans used in cars. The one in the middle on the passenger side is for trucks that have the mid engine sump. The engine is fitted with one or the other to match the pan or, I guess, with both in your case!

thanks wildbunch after you said that i went and checked and the front one is a dummy. are all the y blocks made like this?
