97expedition tranny

i was wondering if i can find out what tranny i have on my expedition by just using the vin#, i have it at the repair shop and they can't seem to figure out which one it has, reason i ask is i need a rear drive shaft, i have a 97 expidition, 5.4L and its a 4x4,

yes you can.

on the door sticker it lists the trans code with a letter tell us the letter. and we can decode it.

ok, i was looking at the sticker on the door, and under TR it has the letter E, hopefully this is some help, thanks again,
