power door locks
I have searched the archive but cant see were any of the problems are exactly like mine. I have an 01 psd club cab. Heres the problems. When I push the rocker switch button on the drivers door neither of the 2 locks work.When I push the button on the passenger door the drivers lock will work but the passenger side will not. When I use the remote the drivers lock will work but not the passenger side will not. In short another way of stating this is the drivers door button will not do anything, but the passenger button will only lock the drivers side. The remote only operates the drivers side. At times you can see where the passenger lock is really weak. I dont understand why if it is really the actuator why doesnt the button on the drivers side operate either lock and the passenger button only operate the drivers side. if I was a betting man I would replace the button on the drivers side and the actuator on the passenger side. I dont mind doing the work myself but I am not sure were to start. I wonder if it could possibly be one of the relays, which I think I remember someone saying they are behind the radio?

You might want to start by checking to see if there is current going to the actuator when the switch is energized and if the linkage moves freely. Check the driver's door switch for current and loose connections. Sounds like you have the right idea, but you need to determine whether or not you have current before you start replacing. If it was a relay it wouldn't work at all.

At least yours is consistant. I never know when or which one works. I purchased a Ford manual but havn't had time to mess with it. I also have window problems. From what I've read so far, I will probably have to replace the GEM.
