Idle Problems

I have a 1999 Explorer with the 4.0 SOHC Engine and when it is first started up in the morning it will not idle. I have had one of the O2 sensors replaced and it ran fine for a while but it is back to doing the same thing...It will not idle. After it has been running for about 10 min.it is fine. Any suggestions on what my problem might be ?

Sounds like the common intake manifold o-rings. Do a search it is a common problem.

a MUCH-more common problem is the idle air control motor (IAC) is gunked up.
Theres lots of posts about that.
Also, have you cleaned the throttle plate lately?

Get the codes read first. No sense guessing when the computer is giving you a clue. The O2 sensor has no affect on a cold engine whatsoever. The PCM doesn't use them untill they and the engine have warmed up. Sensors need to be about 600 degree F to work and engine needs to be ~160 F before the PCM will enable closed loop, O2 sensor control.

Vac leaks, poor spark signal, bad IAC, air temp and engine temp sensors and TPS or MAF can all give you a bad idle...so start with the codes.
