My name is Joe and I am a newb to fte. I was thinking who better to be involved with other than people that have the same vehicle as I. I have an F-350 crew cab pick up. It is a 2002 model year and I went to a body shop because I heard a noise coming from what i thought was the window. The body shop guy said it was door slapping. I am hearing a loose window noise or metal tapping sound about 60 mph. Has anyone had this problem or know what I am talking about? If so does ford or anyone here in the forum have a fix for this issue. It is becoming very annoiying. Thanks for any help you can give.

Door slapping =loose, sagging or misaligned doors when latched.
You need to get the truck on solid level ground an go around an look at all the door gaps an body lines for fit and eveness. Then chk the tightness of the doors when closed. The open the doors about 12inches ,grab the bottom of the door from the rear edge and lift up to see if you have play in the hinge pins.
If you have never done any of the above and don't have the confidence in fixing have the bodyshop do it.

Thanks FortyFords I will try that. I have tried to see if the doors were loose before and did not notice anything. I guess the doors could be realigned if that is the problem? Also is it possible that the weather stripping around the outer seal of the cab is just not as plyable as it was. Could the stripping be bad. I looked at it and it shows signs of aging but how do I know if its bad. I guess im petty stupid, but I am really not a mechanic. Do very small things. Anyways, again I will try that and hopefully it works and I guess I'll see where I need to go from there.
Mine does the low creak sound every now and then - a good cleaning of the weatherstripping along the driver's door solves it.
If it's a rattle, the rear driver's door lock has a tendency to fail internally on some trucks and create a rattle. I had my door lock replaced at 35k miles and the noise has not reappeared.
FleetFilterBrian, I also had the upper weatherstrip noise on my 04 CC, Ford has updated the material, I installed 2 of the new design a few month's ago and have had no noise since.
My '99 F350 has had a "rattle" at highway speeds for as long as I can remember (but I purchased the truck used in '01 with 50k miles). I've asked every mechanic I ever met for their opinion and they all say something to the effect that I'm too damn picky - its a truck - turn up the radio, and the like.
It sounds as though it is comming from the B-pillar just beside the driver's seat (behind the plastic molding over the seat belt). I've removed everything from the inside of the truck to ensure that nothing is rattling behind/under the seats, in the door compartments, the center console, glove box, ashtray, upper console, etc...
I've removed both the front and rear door panels to check for any loose items and found nothing.
I've all but given up.
However, I did just replace the rear driver-side door lock actuator when it failed last week. I haven't driven the truck much since then (on the highway) so I don't know if the noise is gone. I certainly haven't noticed it though. I'll go for a drive and check it out. If anyone has further ideas, please let me know.
Some of this noise comes from the weather strip on the second door that when closed, rubs on the front door. I pulled the strip out a ways and applied clear silicon between it and the door and no more noise.
