Frame differences

What are the frame differences between the F-150/Bronco and the F-250/350 Diesels?

Thanks,

The F150/Bronco frame is a 1/2 ton frame. The F250 frame is a 3/4 ton frame. Hence, the F250 frame is bigger. Much bigger and heavier. What are you trying to accomplish? If you tell me the idea you have, I may have a way to do it. I have swapped several of these frames cabs and engines around in different ways. If you are trying to put the diesel in the F150, the frame will not handle the torque and weight for any amount of time. Going the other way, the gas engine into the diesel frame is pretty straight forward and shouldn't present much of a problem. If you are trying to put a F150 frame into a F250 or vice versa, don't. Way too much effort.

It was your first thought, my dad has his old F250 with the 6.9 just rusting away. I was hopeing to talk him into it as a gift, then put the engine/tranny from it into my Bronco and vice versa (4.9/NP435) and then sell the F-250.

When you say different you're talking thickness correct?

The F250HD frame is thicker, the front has the dimples&cutouts for shackles (4x4 front leaf springs), and diesel/big block frames have a different crossmember (no hole for oil filter on windsor motors). Other than that, no real differences that come to mind. The 6.9 diesel aren't really torque monsters, I think the F150 frame would be fine, except you'd have to get heavier front springs.

2wd F250s have the same front TTB setup as the F150s do (can't remember if they are dimpled for shackles, but I don't think they are).

However, the 6.9s are so wussy, it wouldn't be worth the time or effort.

Thanks, I'll be doing a SAS soon so it'l have one ton leaves/axles.

Still the 6.9 wouldn't be too bad for a light rig like the Bronco, just for the trails....
