Nitro injected PSD?

I wonder what a small amount of nitromethane injected into a PSD would do?
I know water/methanol will enhance power and cool egt's dramatically depending on the mix and the flow rate. Nitromethane is very oxygen rich and packs a tremendous kick. Alcohol dragsters sometimes us nitro injection as a power booster instead of a blower. Anyone ever hear of someone rigging a built up PSD
with Nitro?

Sounds like you'd better have forged rods.

Not in an 02 he doesn't.

If you do try it, make sure it's externaly injected. Alcohol will kill your injectors if you mix it with the fuel.

Dude, that will work no problem. Just run an injection nozzle at the y pipe above the heads. Let us know how it goes. How much fun will that be???? But make sure your blinker fluid is full, other wise your gonna start busting firewall struts.

I'm not sure that the Powerstroke's pistons can handle the additional pressures created by nitromethane. Unless carefully controlled, you'll have virtual detonations, with extremely high cylinder pressures. You should consider copper o-ringing the heads before you try this, as a head gasket (or two) is gonna' blow! Kwik's advise about rods should be taken as a minimum.

Gee, if you're considering nitro, why not hydrazine? Just kidding!

I wouldn't do it to mine.

when you could do a twin turbo setup with a whole list of other things and get your psd to "safely" make what i would call "ludicris" power, the question is why would you want to bother messing with something like this... it's just gonna blow up a perfectly good motor... what's the most power you could "safely" make with a twin turbo and mods on a forged rod psd...? second question: would you have any need to make more power than the answer to question one..?

Hey guys, interesting responses on this topic. I'm a big drag racing fan and of course the thought of nitro(external) injection crossed my mind. Just wondering if any one heard of this being attempted without destroying the motor. Largely for racing purposes of course.

I was thinking about a very small dose injected like water/meth but less. In the old hot rod days they used to mix a small amount with gasoline and blow the doors off other rodders,to their amazement, because the competitors knew the motors they were up against. Nitromethane is nitric acid mixed with propane.
Maybe a micro dose will add so much power that bigger injectors and turbos...etc won't be needed. Interesting to think about. Wish i had the cash to experiment. Fun stuff!
