So when you get ahold of the yoke you can move it from side to side, not a tuning
type movement would mean the pinion bearings are loose. If it just turns a bit it is lash
in the ring and pinion along with the lash in the differential gears as well as
any play in differential side gears to axle splines. I would not worry about
it if you cannot rotate the yoke more than around 22 to 30 degs.
The sideways or up and down movement/ bearing problem would need to be looked into. Pinion seal will begin to leak, and noise will develop. Hope this helps.
