Im thinking about buying new shocks for my 95 ranger 2wd, has anyone used kyb shocks? or if anybody knows some good shocks, for a good deal please let me know
I changed my shocks on my 95 mazda b2300 2wd a couple of years ago with the cheap monroe light truck gas matics (yellow ones) from advance auto and they ride very nice to be so cheap. Around $20 a piece if I remember correctly.
If you are looking for performance shocks, the kyb's are pretty nice. I had some on my 87 mustang.
The $20 shocks do just fine for me. I was waiting to buy more expensive shocks bc I was expecting to drop mine, but I think I'm content with my stock height.
I've been really pleased with my Rancho RSX shocks. Maybe a little firm for some, but They give the truck a really "sure footed" feel - a lot less "bed hop" and body roll.
I just found www.shockwarehouse.com on the web. They have Bilsteins for a good price (~$60/ea with free shipping). Just a few dollars more than KYB Monomax.
From other threads, Bilsteins are highly recommended, even over KYB's.
Anyone have any reason not to get Bilsteins?
I'm not looking for off road performance. I've just got a 93' 2WD ranger XLT with original rear shocks, and dead KYB GR2's in the front. I know a pickup truck won't drive like a car, but I'd like it to drive more car like (as in sports car stiff - much less wallowy on the freeway).
Honestly i run rancho adjustable air shocks but that can be a lil out of some peoples price range. but right now summit is running a really good deal Edlbrock IAS twin tube shock that come with poly bushing and a boot. they are well built this i know for sure and the fact that the price drop is from $49 a shock to $19 makes it a deal not to pass up. i left the link here for you just i f you want to look. !SHOCKS!
