I recently had a brake job performed on my '94 Ranger, and now I seem to be experiencing some high-pitched sqeals from them. Upon inspection, there does not appear to be any problems w/ the calipers or pads, but the rotors appear to be a little glazed, most likely due to improper breaking in of the pads when changed (tough to do in stop and go city traffic). I do not have access to a brake lathe at this time, but have read that there are certain aerosol products available that are applied directly to the brake rotors that may help reduce noise. What brands are recommended, and where may I obtain this product? Thanks.
I dont know the brands, but there is stuff the helps stop noise. What I do to reduce glaze is. Take a flat tip screw driver and mark line across the rotor. in about 4 places on each side. go from the middle of the rotor (where the whole is) to the end. to make kind of a / line in it. you dont have to make them deep just a little, so that when braking the lines will knock off most of the glaze when the pads go across them. I hope that makes since. I am not that good at explaning this. GL
