I don't know alot about A/C systems except they keep you cool and sometimes go bad.
With A/C switch on, the blower works and I can hear the compressor cycling, but no cold air. Is my compressor bad or does my system need to be recharged. Vehicle is an '86 Bronco w/302 EFI.
As a clear sky mechanic (no trees in front yard), how can I tell what needs to be done to get some cold air? Can I do it myself or does it need to go to the shop?
Cycling compressor typically indicates low on gas. Seeing as you are a novice on a/c, it might be a good idea to take it in for diagnosis and ask them to let you watch and explain what is going on then you can decide to pay them more$ or tackle the repair yourself. A/C is a simple system but demands great attention to detail to make work right. GL
