Question Vacume Tubes

OKay i have an 87 2.9 ranger and while i was building a costom cold ait intake i started to cap off all the old vacume tube lines and removing them do to age and cracking. i was woundering if removing and caping of the vacume line system causes any harm or does any good. And is it better for me to go through and replace all the tubbing? I have heard that in older inline sixes they would cap off the vacume line to gain more power. any info would help thx.

i removed the lines that went to the vapor canistor, that the stock air box mounted to, since they were broken then cap it off at both ends and the line that goes from the sensor located on the passenger side fender to the a position to the drivers sid eof the TBI under the the throttle cable linkage for the same reason as before but thats it.

The vacuum line going to the throttle body operates the EGR valve. The computer won't like you very much if you leave it off. The vacuum reservoir is just there to help maintain a steady vacuum supply to the EVR solenoid (that sensor on the fender) for controlling the EGR valve.
IMO, to do this right, you have two choices. Replace the vacuum lines or replace your '87 EGR computer with a non-EGR computer from '88+.
