squeeling
my '77 f250 has been squeeling sometimes when i just start it up especially when it is cold. also the starter has begun to crank really really slow. what is this a sign of? bad starter/ alternator or what? thanks

The sqeeling is probably the alternator belt. Not sure if that means the alternator itself has a problem or just the belt. If the starter is turning slowly, it could be a low battery which would put more load on the alternator to recharge after the engine starts. I always like to start with the simple things first and suggest making sure the battery has a full charge (and that nothing is draining it while the truck is parked) and that the alternator belt isn't worn out. If that doesn't help, you may want to get the alternator and/or starter tested.

thanks for the replies. i went by autozone today and had them test my battery and alternator. both are fine. ill check out the alternator belt tommorow, and the starter is probbaly bad.
