MTs on ice
Does anyone have any advice about driving on icy roads with MT tires? I'm about to get Firestone Destination MTs for my Escape, since my university is in a relatively rural area where I'll be driving through about a foot of snow in the worst winter months. The roads do get icy when the temperature starts to rise, though, so should I get the MTs studded? What would that cost me? And is it even legal in Ontario?

Go to a hardware store and buy the proper size screws and screw them in. Not sure if they're legal though. My Kumho M/T's are pretty squirelly in icy conditions, but that's mostly because they're 11.5 inches wide. Just drive slow and you'll be fine.

dude mud tires are really bad on ice i drove with them last year on the road and they suck.studded tires are always better hands down.If you want to keep the mud tires on and save some money do what ted said add weight to bed the at least 200lbs or more then it really won't slide much with those big tires.also tire chains are really good on ice its a little bouncy with the chains but they do wonders.
