I have a 82 f150 That I am trying to put a 400 out of a 78 F350 My question is dose any one know if the sump location needs to be changed I was test fitting it and it seemed realy too close to me
The 400 was available in 1982 Ford trucks, you might see if you can find a pic of a 400 oil pan in one of these trucks and compare it with the one you currently have.
Another question to think about. Did the engine come from a 2WD and is being installed in a 4x4 or the opposite? 4x4's generally have a different oil pan than 4x2's do, to allow for clearance of the front differential.
