I'm looking for a spark plug recommendation for my recently rebuilt 390 with Performer RPM aluminum heads and a "truck" cam. Compression is about 9.5:1.
NGK Iridium plugs. Yeah $10 to $20 per plug may seem high but it's the best spark plug you can get for a high performance application. Call Edelbrock or cross reference their website/print catalog to see what plug you need to buy.
Keith Craft recommends Champion C57C plugs for Aluminum heads. I found the C57CX at Jeg and it is the long reach regular tip. That's what I just installed in mine. They aren't near as expensive as the NGK iridium listed above, but they are about twice the price of the Autolites.
The Autolite 45s will not work with the Edelbrock heads.
you need something like an Autolite 3924 (but I'm pulling that number out of my ..............hat. so you better confirm that)
here are the specs on the Champion Plug I'm using:
14mm Thread, .750'' Reach, 5/8'' Hex, Washer Seat - Regular Tip
192-12748 C57CX Race Plug; 1/pkg $3.69
