Make sure you use synthetic, and the friction modifier for the limited slip.

You don't have to. I bought the synthetic gear lube and friction modifier from my local Napa and haven't had any problems at all.

no but the gear lube you replace it with must be the same qauilty and meet or excced the specs. mobil does not say if they do or not but RP and RD meet the ford specs. try www.karlracing.com about 9.00 a quart and free shipping.

Since it only takes about 3 quarts for a fluid change, plus modifier, and is only done infrequently, if ever, why not just go with the Ford stuff? My 2000 Expy seems to not like anything unFord. Perhaps it is me, but I find that the Ford specs are very high and you know what you are getting.

use royal purple gear lube in the rear and you don't have to use the friction modifier......
