My brakes work fine stopping the truck, and there is no noticable shimmy while braking at highway down to 20 mph. But slower than 20 mph, like coming up to a stop sign or light, the front end shimmy's or vibrates pretty noticably.
Any tips for what to look for?
Its got entirely new brakes in back, including new drums, and up front new shoe's and one new rotor. Should I have replaced the other rotor also? It's only got about 2000 miles on it since I changed the one rotor.
Pull the front wheels off and check the rotors. See if they have been getting hot. Most of the time when you put new pads on the front, the caliper pistons will start sticking in the bores because of rust. I would get the rotors checked for run-out and go ahead and replace both calipers. They are very cheap(about $12.00 each).
Hmm, should have added that, both front calipers are new. (as is the power booster and master cylinder). Its been a long time (I don't put many miles on the truck) since I did it, and I think what happened was I had enough rotor left to turn one of them, but the other was shot and had to be replaced. At least I hope I turned the rotor that wasn't replaced, I should know better if I was lazy and didn't.
