Truck won't start

I have a 1997 Ford Ranger, 4x4, 4.0L truck. A month or so ago the battery died in my truck. I had it boosted and drove around for a bit but the next morning it wouldn't start again. I put a trickle charger on the battery over noght and it started fine the next day. It worked fine for anout a month after that. Last week, the battery died again. I tried to boost it but it wouldn't even turn over while we were boosting it. I went to Canadian Tire and bought a new battery. I couldn't get the old battery out so ended up having it towed back to Canadian Tire for them to do it. Ever since I had the battery replaced, the truck hasn't been starting properly. When I turned the key, it was like the starter turned half a crank and then stopped. If I held the key turned, it would eventually get enough power and turn over and start. I was supposed to take it back to Canadian Tire today for them to look at it, but I went out to start it, it wouldn't start. It is still doing the try to start, pause, and then try to start again thing, but it's like it's just not getting enough power to actually start. According to Canadian Tire's computer, the battery they installed is the right one for the truck. The Any idea what the problem could be? Could they have done anything when they replaced the battery that would cause this?

Thanks.

Things to consider and inspect:

***Battery cable condition and quality of connections
*Starter solenoid
*Bad starter
