The vehicles we use where I work are allowed to run almost constantly and we have had a few stolen. Our mechanic devised a switch that when flipped allows the vehicle to continue running with the key removed.
Removing the key locks the shift lever and stearing wheel preventing the vehicle from being taken.
I know excessive idiling is a concern but when I run in to pay for fuel on a cold morning I would rather let it run.
Has anybody suggested this?
Can it be done?
If so, how?
I have a viper alarm with remote start, it allows you to keep the engine running without the key and even arm the alarm while its running, it also has a pager on the remote to notify you of the trucks status.
