Im going to be installing a 1992 4.6 EFI motor and automatic overdrive tranny into my 77 F-100. Has anyone here everdone something like this? Im probably going to need all the help I can get as Im only 16. Ill post some pictures later. Thanks
i sort of agree with eric, this sort of transplant is not what i would ever want in my trucks, but thats not to say it cant,or wont be done.you would probably need to get all the complete wireing harness, computer ,etc from a donor vehicle.i suggest get the complete vehicle if possible.you will probably have to fabricate engine mounts, tranny mounts, driveshaft lenght, and end yolk,as wellas a bunch of misilaneous stuff.if your up for the challenge, and you really want this in your truck,go for it.it WILL be costly, time consuming, and at times difficult.just my opinion-billy
I know it will be difficult but Ive got everything I need to make this engine run, I can weld so motor mounts wont be a big problem. The main reason for doing this swap is because I want this to be a one of a kind show truck.
then by all means,go for it.i built a toyota truck with duallies 20 years ago, because i really liked dually trucks, and every one said i was crazy, andit was not possible.then when it was done they all said it wouldnt last.i also had a ford 302 in it,that was a first ,everyone said to put a chevy small block in it,i said i liked the ford engine instead.well i had that truck for over 15 years,it was possible, and it did last.that wasback before dually trucks were cool, they were just considered to be work trucks back then.enjoy your project, its 1/2 the fun of the finished result.-billy
