I recently purchased an 04 F250 CC PSD King Ranch 4X4 with the FX4(Rancho shocks) package. I want to upgrade the tires and wheels for a more agressive look, without putting the truck too high. (This truck will be used for towing and hauling, so it will be easier on my back to keep the bed where it is) I have found some mods that were previously done to the truck (Airaid filter) so I am wondering if a levelling kit has already been installed on the truck. It looks like pictures of trucks on this forum that have had levelling kits. Does the FX4 package make any difference? What can I look for specifically to see if a levelling kit has been put on the truck?
PS Love the forum, it really helps me out. And for those who are wondering.. So far getting about 17.6 mpg combination highway/city (Calculated, not LOM)
Do you know what spring package you have up front. If it has the plow springs, it already sits pretty level.
If you just want more aggressive tires, you can easily fit 295/75/16's on it with your stock wheels. Haven't heard guys having any rub issues with that setup. You can run 305/70/16's on there as well. I had those on for about a year, before the lift. I did get some rub though at full lock if hitting a bump, but even that was only on the inner fender liner.
Safe bet is 295's. They are 33's and you can get them in load range E's, so they will still be good for towing. Check my gallery if you want to see the 305's without the leveling kit. It will give you a good idea what the 295's would look like, as they are just about the same height, but slightly narrower.
Dern, Thank you, just went to look and there are 2 springs in the pack. Guess it doesn't have a kit on it. Just wanted to make sure. The guy at the local off road shop says I should put a 4" lift on it. I'm just not sure that I want to spend the 1400.00 or not sure I want the truck higher. I appreciate the help.
BFR,
Thanks for the info. I will check into the 295s. I will replace the wheels. I want something that is wider and with a deeper offset. Although I like the KR wheels. Never understand why Ford can't make wider wheels. BTW, nice looking truck. Sure is a Crimson truck to be from Auburn. Was that done on purpose?
Naaaaaaaaah, I'm a NY guy. I'm just stationed down there. I think my last 5 vehicles have been red. I think it has something to do with the personality.
Watch how much backspacing you go with. You want to stay around 4.5" of backspacing to keep from having issues hitting the leaf springs or the front valance. For the 295's an 8" wheel will work good.
