Variable Venturi.....

My 83 F250 with a 351W has a Variable Venturi setup. What do i need to replace to put on a 4 bbl?? Is it just the carb, intake, and ditributor or is there more?

All I had to swap out was the intake and carb when I converted from the variable venturi to the 4 barrel setup.

you have to get rid of the tfi/eec4 computer as it will be worthless with the new 4bbl, and install a duraspark2 system. then you can get rid of all the emissions equipment (if allowed by your state) as they all need the instuctions from the eec4 computer to operate.
you could keep the tfi/eec4 computer but since you will be removing one of its controlling tasks, whats the use of keeping it? the tfi/eec4 computer controls the VV carb, ignition timing, and all emissions based on the info from 4-5 sensors.

Thats what i wanted to know thatnks a lot. And I don't need emisions on the truck since it is too heavy. The smog pump belt was taken off before i bought it. It will be nice to get rid of all that useless crap. Can you buy a duraspark2 ignition or am I better off searchin junkyards?

You can buy the Duraspark dist. new or rebuilt, or you can do some junkyard scrounging. You should also get a blue grommet ignition control module to go with it. They're pretty cheap new, about 25 bucks but the dist. will set you back closer to $75-100 rebuilt.
