Adding Keyless Entry and Remote Start to 95 PSD

My 1995 F250 (4X4/Reg Cab) has power locks. I want to add remote start and I see many with Keyless Entry as one of the functions. Since I have power locks will the units work or do I need something else?
TIA

I have very little experience, but I believe when you program the key fob it does include factory PDL's....and I've seen one or two that also include the power windows.

I bought the truck used and don't know if it ever had a transmitter for the door locks. I assume the locks have some type of built in receiver or does the remote start box supplie this feature?

Didn't think about that. Was keyless entry even an option in 95?

Either way, you should be able to get a system that wires a transceiver into the locks.

ok here we go............

i was in the same boat as you a few months back. if you got an xlt you probably got the keyless brain which is under the dash behind the cubby. i have ford instuctions for programming fobs from 93-03.
brain picture determine if you got it first and if you do pm me and ill send you a link with a place to get a fob under 20 bucks. and the instructions. and the grey plug in the pic is where you ground it out. if you cant find the brain or dont know where to look. stick a screwdriver in the grey plug making contact with both prongs.((((((its right above the go pedal))))) if you got keyless entry your locks will cycle.

good luck

i forget exactly but IF you have the keyless entry already installed and you wanna program a fob all you have to do is turn the ignition on and off like 5 times and then hit the unlock button on the armreast and then immediately after hit the lock button. it then should be programmed

it has been several years since i have done one but i think i remember it correctly

I don't think remote start was a factory option on the OSB. Mine's a Cobra Viper that was installed by an alarm company in WA to the tune of 600 smackeroos.

hey john apple..
i am curious why you would want remote start on a psd? is this your first year owning it? these things dont warm up like gassers. they have to be driven to get warm. you will just be wasting fuel if you let it idle for 10 minutes before you go outside. it would be more economical to just use the block heater for a few hours then get in and drive. your truck will blow warm air immediately.

I have a 94.5 xlt with the RKE. I have just been trying to get the door locks to work but the door switches test good but only get a clicking under the dash. The remote works but one door lock goes up and the other down. Im not sure if the RKE module is bad or a short somewhere.
But you cant put in a new RKE system if the wiring is bad somewhere.

I have a block heater which I use at home.
When I get to work and have to pull a 12 hour shift, supervising the snow plows, I have nothing to plug into. I plan to start the motor (automatically) every two hours to try to keep some heat in the engine.
I'd also like the cool down feature and the keyless entry.

I have heard that the truck's block heater should not stay plugged in all night. Meaning, from say 8 pm to 7 am. Can someone let me know what the strait is about this. ???

Thanks
John

It's not going to hurt anything more than your electric bill leaving it plugged in all night....and we're only talking about $20-30 a month if you plug it in all night every night.
