A guy I work with has a 2001 f-150 7700 edition. and he just had the sparkplug blow out of head on the passenger side against the firewall is this a common thing.
Do a search on this forum, and yes it has been more of a problem with the 5.4l v8 and 6.8l v10's. Ford did a fix with these heads roughly int the late 90's and early 00's, only a few threads holding the plugs in, maybe your bud was one of the unlucky ones.
The question I have for you is did it happen after a plug change maybe?
