ABS light is on!Please help!!
(I have a 2000 Explorer Sport 4x4, auto trans)While coming home from work tonight my abs light came on. When I first left work, I was sitting at the redlight and was noticing an intermitting vibrating noise coming from underneath the vehicle. It sounded almost like the abs was activating while I was sitting still. I have recently replaced the seal and metal cup in each of the front knuckles, front brake pads and rotors, caliper on the drivers side, and the rear brake pads. I have read that the rear speed sensor gives a lot of problems, as well as the front bearing assemblies. Please help!!

I don't know if the 2000 is the same rabs setup as my 94, but the speed sensor on my 94 is in the top of the pumpkin. A 10 mm socket and a rag and it was as good as new. Take it out, wipe it down and put it back. Takes me 10 minutes every few months....sooner or later I need to replace that stupid sensor, but I never remember when I'm at the parts store....

I took it in to a local garage and the mechanic put a Snap-on code reader to it, and it indicated a bad ABS pump (big money). I am still thinking about taking it to my local Ford dealership and have them check it to be sure. I tell you the truth, those Toyotas are looking real good now!!

Yes, that's the first thing I tried. I have an appointment Monday with the Ford dealership to have it checked. I am hoping and praying they will find something cheaper that is wrong with it. I will post the results when I get them.
