Have 02 7.3 PSD......40K miles. I live in So Cal. (it's not that cold yet in A.M.) , when I start truck in morning everything is OK. I let it warm up about 3-4 minutes and pull out of drive to the stop sign down the st., about .5 miles it has stalled 2 times in the last week at the same spot. I takes about 3-5 minutes and then the truck will start again.....it runs rough about 1 minute and then it's fine the rest of the day. It runs like a champ all day. Could this be fuel filter/Cam sensor? How hard is it to replace the cam sensor? Thanks, JT
That sounds pretty much the way my cam sensor went out on me earlier this year. They take about ten minutes and a ten millimeter socket with a 3" extension. A flat screwdriver to pry (gently) the sensor out helps as well. Give the o-ring a little engine oil before installing will help it go in better.
Hey I got an idea from personal experience. Just the other day the truck made it down the street and acted baddddddd....Darn o ring wasnt sealed on the fuel filter and the cap wasnt tight enough. Was wondering why it ran so bad...opps my fault.
the cam position sensor is the timing mark indicator on the front cover. from underneath remove the 10mm bolt, unplug the wiring and carefully pry the old sensor out. Oil up the o ring on new sensor and reinstall. If this doesnt help, it cud be the edge if this all started right after the edge installation.
