My fuel pump went out on me after i got home from work (luckily). It only has 24k miles on it. I've been hearing that our fuel pumps are maxed out and they are weak and is usually the first to go? I had it replaced by the dealer with another OEM part. Hopefully, this was just a fluek?
I almost hate to post and bring out the bad karma, but in 97,000 miles I've only replaced normal maintenance items, the 4 door lock actuators, and shift selector cable on my 2001 EX. The vehicle has been mechanically perfect since day one! I did replace the rotors with Art's, but that was after 30K miles.
Just got finished replacing my fuel pump. I tried NAPA but none of their parts fit. So I had to get it from the dealer. ($236) It wasn't to bad to change out. The dealer wanted $460 to do it. It was suggested to test the IAC (great thread on testing it on this sight), it check out ok. The truck is a '99 with 58k miles. I also had to change the passenger side door actuator. I will need to swap out the drivers side some day. Other than that the truck has done all that I have asked.
Just to let you guys know, I picked up a Walbro 255 liter per hour fuel pump for 107 bucks. I have had great luck with the Walbros. I have one in my supercharged mustang. For the superduty, it is a direct bolt on, and you can't beat the price for a high powered racing fuel pump.
Hey wimmer! I do all of the work on my truck myself. Everything. I installed the pump. It's very easy. All you have to do is unbolt the gas tank ( helps when it's empty), unplug the level sender, unscrew the top for the pick up. (need a large pair of pliers). Pull out the pickup and pump assembly, Unplug the fuel pump and take out the retaining screws, unscrew the hose clamps for the line, and install the new pump in the same manner.
No, my setup is an in-tank one. I will deffinitely get part numbers for you. I've been busy. I've been workin on the house all day. I did a parts configuration in order to do the pump swap. I used their 255 lph pump, along with a superduty install kit. Worked like a charm. I also have an inline pumpon my truck for my supercharger. The inline pump is set on a relay, so it does not start pumping until my supercharger starts boosting.
