I bought some parts the other day from my local dealer where i got my truck and i was surprised to find out the prices were so much better than i expected. He said that they had gone to a flat 12% on all parts regardless of what it was or who it is. Is this a standard or has Pioneer Ford started something new?
alot of times you can get oem ford parts at the same or better prices then after market. i always try to use oem when i can. the parts seam to last better and you know they will fit right.
Some parts are still far too expensive in proportion - the driver side battery shelf for an '05 F250 - stamped formed metal plate about 10" X 13" - is $70.00 ......
i needed a new chrome bumper bar, right side mount plate and a right side fog lamp. 450 dollars with tax from my dealer. they suprised me when the fog lamp was only 46 dollars as i saw some on ebay for more.
as to product you can't go wrong with oem reguardless for the auto company's name

70$ for just the tray or for the support bracket? retail shows 120$ sounds like you are getting a good deal.

ya i agree on oem. stay away from a/m and reman bumpers as they will rust in no time.

You are kidding, right? How much do you think that 4 lb steel plate costs to manufacture? Take a look at a lawn mower deck - larger, heavier, more complicated. Now, throw in a gas engine, set of wheels, blade, handlebars, and still sell it for $89 to $129. Funny how this country is being led around by the wallet - stopped in to Home Depot for a piece of 1-1/4 inch electrical tubing - 10 foot length is $16.00 + tax. Bet it cost all of about 15 cents a foot to manufacture. Or how about needing a small 24V transformer for a furnace - troubleshooting my son's - found transformer bad. He called three local HVAC places - none would sell him a transformer, but would send a service truck out. Finally called a distributor 20 miles away - who would order one, pick up in three days, and only $63.00! For a $10.00 transformer!
He finally ordered it on line - but they had a minimum order of 25.00. So he wound up with his transformer, a good supply of D call batteries, which he needed anyway, 2 day delivery, and total out of pocket $29.00.
Or the Sears trim kit for a 5 year old gas stove - two 1/4" chrome u channel strips (light metal, about 20" long), and two plastic ends - $49.00.
Enough ranting, just wanted to vent on the outrageous prices of repair parts.........
Some dealers have began to realize that parts money is good money, so they have adjusted their pricing to more realistic levels. However, many other dealers haven't got a clue how stupid their pricing is, but their old school and they probably won't change without a fight.
talf about rip offs.to day i went to my ford dealer for the little remote oil filter the torqe shift has in the cooler lines by the radiator. it looks like and feels like a small roll of toilit paper . $24.00 now theres a rip off
Hmmm...A couple months after I purchased my '02 Explorer I dropped by my very nearby dealer to pick up a new air filter. I was told $22. I bought it and went home. Well, after I pulled it out of the box, I got to thinking that the price seemed awfully steep. A call to several local aftermarket vendors revealed prices between $6 and $8!! A close inspection of those aftermarket filters revealed that they were identical. Same rubber molding, same colors, same paper.
Took the filter back to the dealer and got a refund. Told them why. Absolutely ridiculous!
If you were able to order all the parts individually that are in a superduty at the dealer over the counter you should have over $175000.00 in reciepts.
try a dealer for a air filter in a 05 v10. 48.00 dollars at list if my old brain's not having a fart again. all i rember for sure was owcccchhhhh. got me a afe kit now, wash and wear type. just don't over oil that baby when you clean it.
Speaking of parts prices, I priced a turn signal switch at $103 from the dealer for my '99 F250, and one of the online joints http://www.discountfordpartsaty2kford.com/
claims to have it for $55. They claim to offer new-in-the-box genuine OEM stuff. Any reason I shouldn't save 50% and buy it online? Where do folks on this list buy mail-order stuff with high success and not-outrageous shipping charges?
