Question Shift Arm Removal From Tranny

I just swapped out my 302 with 4 speed AOD out of my '86 F-150 and put in a 302 with a 4 speed AOD from my '91 Crown Vic. The swap is all good except the shift arm from the Tranny. The one off of the old tranny has the arm in the 6 o'clock position and pushes out of park. The one from the '91 crown vic is in the 12 o'clock position and pulls out of park. I tried to fab something up but couldn't make a good fit. I was wanting to swap the shift arms but I can't figure out exactly how to get the arm off. I'm thinkin that I have to drop the pan and get to it from behind. But I don't really know?

From: Destin/Ft. Walton Beach,
Drop the pan. There's a big nut on the inside that holds it on. Be careful, to get it back together the way it came apart.

Thumbs up

Thanks,

That's the answer I was hoping for because I really didn't want to have to drop the tranny again. Well, I guess it's a good time to change out the goods in the pan now to. Well, I'll let you know how it goes. It will probably be about a week before I get back to my garage to do this. But thanks for the help.

Well,,,,

I ran into yet, another problem. That helped alot for one thing, but I have headers on there off of a '80 ford pickup that was in the salvage yard a.k.a. "Toy Store" and they fit perfect. But the shift arm won't slide all the way into place because the header is in the way. So The next time I get to the garage to work on it, I was thinking about cutting the flange off and a section off of the end and weld the flange or the rest of the pipe back up to it. But the arm is there with the little pin in it and everything except not all the way under the little geared arm in there. I just need to move the arm down like a quarter inch, but the header is there. It's always something that's keepin me from driving my pickup back home with me. Can't wait for the day to come. I appreciate the help though. Thanks bud.
