New to the forum, and have read a few of the posts. I have a '99 SD 7.3L that is having problems starting. So after reading a few posts I thought that I would go out and read the ohms of the glow plugs to see if I need to replace any of them. I cannot get the connector to let loose. Are there any tricks to getting the plug off? I really don't want to break it. Is there a test for the GP relay? Other than just checking for 12V? If so what would the proceedure be? Any help would be appreciated.
No I did not. I have taken a closer look, after the post prior to yours, and it looks like I would need to push on the square piece on the center top of the connector. This seems odd, due to the fact that that part looks like a keeper for the plug. This did not seem to work, maybe you can give me a little more of an explaination.
if you can get your hands on a dc clamp on ampmeter--put it on the output of the glow plug relay--turn the ignition key on and look for current on the meter. meter should register 100 amps or so.
