My dad and I are debating on how to rotate radial tires on his F-250. He says that L front goes to L rear and R front to R rear. I thought that you either had to do the X pattern or the "around the block" where R front to L front to L rear to R rear back to R front. The spare will not be in rotation.
I believe the manual shows LF to LR, LR to RF, RF to RR, and RR to LF. So fronts to back on same side, but rears cross to opposite side on the fronts. Nice diagram in your owners manual.
In the old days the belts would get sort of twisted in the direction of rotation so on radial tires you would not switch the them from side to side, I do not think that is an issue any more.
I always cross to the drive axle - on a rear drive cross the fronts side to side when you move them to the rear. The opposite would be true for a front drive.
